USA data notes an increase in adverse drug effects

The Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP) in the United States has found in their 2008 report that negative reactions to medications are increasing rather than decreasing in US hospitals.  They found a 52% increase over the previous 5 years in these negative outcomes, with 1.9 million inpatient hospital stays being associated with an adverse reaction to medications.  The Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy reports that adverse drug reactions occur in up to 15%  of drug therapy courses.

All of this throws into light the recent rhetoric from “Political Medicine” (that branch of medicine interested in maintaining the status quo and discrediting professions like chiropractic despite the evidence supporting these professions) about the “dangers” of chiropractic, especially in the care of children.  The fact is that serious side effects to chiropractic are incredibly rare (even the most conservative estimates only rate them at 1 in 120,000 patients).  Thank you for choosing safe and natural chiropractic.

Dr. Matt,
Thank you for visiting my blog! It’s fun to read what doctors have to say! I haven’t read much on your site but this seems that you recognize the ‘broken’ medical system ~ the pharmaceuticals industry that is a business. I would be honored if you’d be willing to write a guest post for MSrelief (in all your spare time)! I am anti-pharmaceutical by nature and yet as crazy as it is, for now I’m dependent on them!
